  •

Are Mentos Vegan?

Mentos are not 100% vegan because some flavours contain gelatin derived from the collagen of the skin, bones, ligaments, and cartilage of slaughtered pigs and cattle.

However, many other brands of mints do not use animal-derived ingredients.

What is Mentos?

Mentos is a brand of chewing gum made by Wrigley’s Company. It was first introduced in 1937 as “Swedish Match Mints.” The original flavour was peppermint. In 1938, it was renamed to its current name: Mentos.

The shape of the mint resembles an upside-down cone with a pointed tip. The fresh mint has a sweet taste with a strong scent of peppermint.

What are the Mentos ingredients?

According to the packaging, the primary ingredients for Mentos hard mints contains sugar, glucose syrup, artificial flavours, natural flavour, cellulose gum, sodium benzoate (a preservative), titanium dioxide (for colour) and potassium sorbate (an antioxidant).

The ingredients list does not include any ingredients from animals or their parts. However, the ingredient list above can be found in products that come from animals.

How Does Mentos Work?

When you chew on Mentos, it releases bubbles into your mouth. This causes the sweet mint flavour to come out.

Furthermore, when you swallow the fresh bubble gum, it bursts inside your stomach. When this happens, the carbon dioxide gas expands, causing the digestive juices to be released. These juices help break down food for digestion.

This helps you feel full faster, so you eat less.
